How TikTok verification works

TikTok offers either an email address or a phone number on the sign-up screen. Register by phone and a six-digit tiktok verification code arrives at the number within a minute or two. The same code is requested again later when you sign in from a new device, when the account is put under security review, and when certain creator features are switched on.

Douyin is the Chinese edition of TikTok and is listed under the same service in the panel, so one entry covers both.

When TikTok asks for a number

An account can be opened with email alone, but a number comes into play at four separate points: the first review of a new account, a sign-in from an unfamiliar device, a password reset, and any temporary restriction placed on the account.

Accounts that have completed tiktok sms verification tend to run into fewer of these checks. Email-only accounts more often find their reach narrowed in the first days, with posts failing to surface on the For You feed.

How to get a TikTok verification number

  1. Create your account and add credit.
  2. Pick TikTok / Douyin from the service list, then the country you want the number from.
  3. The number is reserved instantly. Enter it in the app phone field with the country code and no leading zero.
  4. Read the code from the panel and type it into the app.

If nothing arrives there is no point watching the timer run down. Cancel, move one line down the country list and take a fresh tiktok virtual number; the cancelled one is credited back to your balance automatically.

Features that need a verified phone

  • Live streaming — a verified account is expected alongside the follower threshold.
  • Direct messages — required to open messaging in some regions.
  • Creator tools — the analytics and earnings sections.
  • TikTok Shop — mandatory for a seller application.

All of these ask that the account has been verified by phone at some point; none of them require you to still hold the line. Once the verification is done these doors stay open even after the number has gone back to the pool.

Age verification is a separate process

TikTok asks some accounts to confirm their age, and that request has nothing to do with SMS. Taking a different number or requesting a new code will not get you past the screen: an identity document or a face scan is what the flow expects.

Enter a realistic date of birth when you register. A date below the minimum age closes the account permanently, and in practice that decision is not reversible.

The region of the account and what the number changes

What appears in your own feed is decided by your location, your language settings and what you watch — a foreign number will not fill your feed with foreign videos. The registration data does something different: it helps set the region assigned to the account, and that region is not easy to change afterwards.

If the audience you want to reach is in one country, registering with a number and a location from that country is the sensible combination. An account opened from a distant country sits in that country pool of viewers and stays less visible where you actually want to be seen. This regional effect is particular to TikTok; most other platforms do not work this way.

The first days of a new account

TikTok keeps new accounts under a short observation period. Following at speed, leaving comments back to back and posting the same text in several places all resemble an automation pattern and pull reach down.

On the first day, fill in the profile, watch a couple of videos and leave a few likes. Upload your first video once the account has aged a few hours. That order gives the first video a noticeably better chance of being distributed widely.

Removing the number from the account

The number can be deleted once verification is finished: Profile, then Settings and privacy, then Account, then Phone number. TikTok insists on at least one confirmed contact method staying on the account, so add an email address before you remove the phone.

Removing it does not undo the verified status and the features stay open. The only change is that login codes are no longer sent to that line.

Setting up two-factor authentication properly

TikTok offers SMS, email and an authenticator app for two-factor authentication. On an account opened with a temporary line, do not tick the SMS option: when the number returns to the pool the login code goes to somebody else and the account is out of reach.

Switch on the email and app options together. Two independent fallbacks mean you can still get in if you lose the phone holding the authenticator app.

Several accounts and the device fingerprint

TikTok lets you switch between multiple accounts in one app, but they all share a single device fingerprint. Opening a run of accounts from the same phone in a short window can pull down the reach of every account on that device.

Spreading registrations across different days, and letting each account build its own viewing habits, is the most practical precaution available.

TikTok Shop and seller accounts

A seller application goes well beyond SMS verification: tax details, identity documents and a bank account are all requested. None of that is solved with a virtual number, and genuine business information is required.

If you intend to sell, open the account with your own permanent number from the start. The contact number has to remain reachable throughout the application process and afterwards.

Banned accounts and new registrations

When TikTok closes an account it flags the device along with the number. Registering again with the same number will not work, and a new account opened with a different number can still be restricted once it signs in from the same device.

The route for disputing a decision is the support form inside the app. Using a virtual number to get around a platform ban is against our terms of use.

Common error messages

  • "Too many attempts" — this appears when codes are requested for the same number repeatedly in a short window. Continuing with a different number is faster.
  • "This number cannot be used" — TikTok does not accept that number range. Try another country.
  • No code, but the timer is still running — do not wait for it to expire. Cancel and take a new number.
  • Account restricted warning — usually the result of heavy activity on the first day. Leave it a few days.

Choosing a country, and where these figures come from

For TikTok the country choice changes more than price alone; it also shapes which audience your own posts reach, which is why picking a country close to your target audience matters here more than on other platforms. If price is the priority instead, the table on this page starts at the lowest one. Those figures, and the country count beside them, are not typed by hand: they are read from our own inventory on every page load, so what you see is the real position at that moment. TikTok verification uses different delivery routes by region, so depth of country coverage feeds straight into how often a code actually lands. Current figures for every platform are in the price list, and the way the service works in general is set out on our virtual number page.

Legal and safe use

A virtual number is for opening a second account, registering without handing over your personal line, or clearing a one-off verification screen. Opening accounts in someone else name, evading a platform ban, fraud and bulk automated registration are against our terms of use and grounds for closing your account. Messages sent to the number are visible only in your own session; once the transaction ends the number returns to the pool and past messages cannot be retrieved.
