Instagram and Threads share one verification
A Threads profile is created through an existing Instagram account and never asks for a phone step of its own, which is why the two are listed under a single service in the panel. Instagram itself offers either an email address or a phone number on the sign-up form. If you register by phone, or if a security check is triggered later, a six-digit instagram verification code is sent to the number you entered.
An instagram virtual number covers exactly that step. The line is reserved for you, the incoming message appears in your panel, and once the transaction closes the number goes back into the pool.
How to get an Instagram verification number
- Create your account and add credit.
- Pick Instagram / Threads from the service list, then the country you want the number from.
- The number is reserved instantly. Type it into the Instagram phone field with the country code and no leading zero.
- Read the code from the panel and submit it in the app.
The flow normally takes a minute or two. If nothing arrives there is no reason to sit and watch the timer: cancel, move one line down the country list and try again. A cancelled number is credited back to your balance, so a few attempts cost nothing.
Signing up with email: a number is optional, not unnecessary
You can open an account without ever giving a phone number. Instagram will often come back within days with a confirm your account prompt and ask for one anyway, particularly on brand new accounts and when you sign in from an unfamiliar location.
In practice an email-only account runs into checks more often than one that has already completed instagram sms verification. Finishing the step at sign-up avoids an interruption at a far less convenient moment.
The verification loop and how to break it
New accounts hit a recognisable pattern: a code is requested, the code is entered, and the same screen asks for a code again. The cause is usually not the number but how much happened right after registration — profile photo, biography and a burst of follows, all inside a few minutes.
If you are caught in that loop, stop requesting fresh codes. Close the app, wait half an hour and sign in again from the same network. Switching networks or turning a VPN on and off extends the check instead of clearing it.
The first hour of a new account
What you do in the first hour shapes how the account is treated afterwards. Take these slowly:
- Add a profile photo and a biography, then leave the account alone for a few minutes.
- Follow people in small batches spread over time, not all at once.
- Send no bulk messages on the first day.
- Keep outbound links out of your posts for the first few days.
None of this is a written rule; it is pattern matching. Behaviour that looks automated is what pulls another verification request onto the screen.
Removing the number from the account
You are not obliged to keep the number on your profile once verification is done. The path is Settings, then Accounts Centre, then Personal details, then Contact info.
Before you remove it, make sure your email address has been confirmed. The number is going back to the pool either way, so email becomes your only route back into the account.
Set up two-factor with an app, not SMS
Instagram nudges you towards SMS for two-factor authentication. On an account opened with a temporary line that is the wrong choice: once the number returns to the pool the login code arrives somewhere you cannot read it, and the account is effectively gone.
Use the authenticator app option instead, under Settings, Accounts Centre, Password and security, Two-factor authentication. Save the backup codes it produces at the same time; they are shown once and they are what gets you in when the app is unavailable.
Switching to a professional account
Moving to a business or creator account does not trigger a fresh SMS step; the change is made on the account you already have. Watch the contact details afterwards, though: under contact options a phone number can be displayed publicly on the profile.
On an account verified with a temporary line, leave that field empty. After the number goes back to the pool it belongs to somebody else.
Recovery when you lose access
Instagram offers three ways back in: email, SMS and a video selfie. With a temporary number the SMS route is closed, so the other two carry the weight.
Video verification only works when the profile already shows your face, so it is unavailable on accounts that do not represent a real person. That leaves a confirmed email address as the only dependable backup.
If age verification is requested
Instagram asks some accounts to confirm their age with an identity document, a video selfie or vouching from three other users. This request is independent of SMS — taking a different number will not clear the screen.
Enter a realistic date of birth at sign-up. A date that puts the account under the minimum age closes it, and that decision is difficult to reverse.
Several accounts on one device
Instagram lets you switch between up to five accounts in one app. Each is verified separately, but they all share the same device fingerprint. Opening a run of new accounts from one phone in a short window can put every account on that device under review at once. Spreading them across different days is the simplest precaution there is.
Keep region and language close to the number
Keeping the app language and region roughly in line with the country the number came from reduces how often checks appear. A line from one country paired with an interface language from another is an unusual combination, and unusual combinations invite extra verification. This is a matter of fitting the expected pattern rather than a rule anyone published.
Other moments a code is requested
Beyond sign-up, Instagram sends a code to the number on file in three more situations: resetting a forgotten password, signing in from a new country, and clearing a temporary lock. All three route to whatever number the account has saved.
None of them work once the line has returned to the pool. That is the whole argument for adding an email address and an authenticator app the moment verification finishes.
Signs of a quiet restriction
Instagram can narrow an account reach without any warning at all. The symptoms are easy to recognise: posts stop appearing in Explore, the account no longer surfaces in hashtag searches, and new followers dry up.
It usually follows a burst of activity and clears on its own within a few days. Opening a replacement account is not a fix, because a new account created on the same device can inherit the same restriction.
Business accounts and the Accounts Centre
A business account may be asked to connect a Facebook Page. Once the Page is linked, verification moves into the Meta Accounts Centre and the two platforms sit under one identity, so a check on one side reaches the other. If the number saved on the Facebook side is temporary, an Instagram login can end up sending its code to that same unreachable line.
Country choice and where these figures come from
Instagram applies no restriction on the country of the number; the choice changes price and current stock, nothing else. The country count and the lowest price on this page are not typed by hand, they are read from our own inventory every time the page loads, so what you see is the real position at that moment. Instagram verification runs on Meta infrastructure, which means the Facebook and Instagram pools tend to move together and a country that empties on one side is often thin on the other. Current figures for every platform are in the price list, and the way the service works in general is set out on our virtual number page.
Legal and safe use
A virtual number is for opening a second profile, signing up without handing over your personal line, or clearing a one-off verification. Opening accounts in someone else name, fraud and bulk automated registration are against our terms of use and grounds for closing your account. Messages sent to the number are visible only in your own session; once the transaction ends the number returns to the pool and past messages cannot be retrieved.
