Twitter / X SMS VerificationWhen does X ask for phone verification?
X registration can be completed with an email address, but the platform asks for phone verification in these situations:
- a new account looks suspicious and the verification screen appears,
- the account has been locked automatically,
- you sign in from a new device.
A six-digit code is sent to the number.
How to get a number
- Add credit and open the panel.
- Pick the Twitter / X service, then the country.
- Enter the number with its country code in the X phone field.
- Read the code from the panel and submit it.
Do not leave the number on the account
Remove the number in settings once verification is done. The number returns to the pool when the transaction ends; if it stays saved on your account you will not receive codes sent to it later. Use an authenticator app for lasting security.
SMS-based two-factor authentication
X offers SMS-based two-factor authentication to paying subscribers. A virtual number is not suitable for enabling it: because the number is not permanent, you would lose access to your own account.
If the code never arrives
If the window closes without a code, the transaction is cancelled and the fee is credited back to your balance.
