Like WhatsApp, Viber works directly off a phone number. When you install the app, a verification code is sent to your number. If you would rather not use your own line, or you are opening a second Viber account, a temporary number is required.
When a code does not arrive, Viber also offers to read it out over a voice call. Voice calls are not supported on virtual numbers, so staying on the SMS option and taking a fresh number if nothing arrives is the quickest route.
How to get a number
- Add credit and open the panel.
- Pick Viber from the service list, then the country.
- Enter the number in the Viber app.
- Read the code from the panel and type it into the app.
Country choice
Viber does not restrict the country of the number; the account opens either way. The choice affects price and availability. The list starts at the lowest price.
Viber Out and business accounts
An account opened with a virtual number uses standard Viber features. Viber Out credit and Viber Business accounts require separate registration and payment steps, which are independent of number verification.
If the code never arrives
When the window closes without a code, the amount is credited back to your balance. Unused numbers are not charged for.
