Creating an Apple ID requires a trusted phone number, and a six-digit code is sent to it. Apple records that number as the account trusted number.
How to get a number
- Add credit and open the panel.
- Pick the Apple service, then the country.
- Enter the number with its country code on the Apple ID form.
- Read the code from the panel and submit it.
Read this before you buy
Apple two-factor authentication behaves differently from other platforms: every time you sign in on a new device it sends another code to the trusted number. Because a virtual number returns to the pool after the transaction, you will not receive that code and you can be locked out of the account permanently.
So if you are creating an Apple ID with a virtual number, you must add your own permanent number as a trusted number immediately after verification and remove the virtual one. Otherwise you will only be able to use the account on the device where the session is already open.
iCloud, the App Store and purchases
Once the Apple ID is verified, iCloud and the App Store work normally. Adding a payment method is a separate step and has nothing to do with number verification.
If the code never arrives
If the window closes without a code, the transaction is cancelled and the amount is credited back to your balance.
